Meet Lyret ...
Dr. Lyret Carrasquillo is a highly dedicated and accomplished behavior analyst with over 20 years of experience in the field. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she discovered her passion for applied behavior analysis (ABA) during her undergraduate studies at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Under the guidance of Dr. Martha Pelaez, BCBA-D, Lyret conducted research on motherese speech to promote vocalizations in infants and evaluate their ability to form stimulus equivalence relations. While working in the infant lab, Lyret was introduced to the applications of behavior analysis to teach young children with autism. When she learned about children with autism and the benefits of ABA, she felt a stirring in her heart. It was a calling to help and support families in need.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in speech-language pathology, Lyret joined Dr. Vincent Carbone’s team and worked with children with autism in diverse settings. Under Dr. Carbone’s mentorship, she learned about the principles of verbal behavior and the techniques for skill acquisition. In 2006, Lyret obtained her board-certified assistant behavior analyst (BCaBA) certification while continuing her work in early intervention.
Driven to enhance her knowledge, Lyret pursued a master’s degree in ABA at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. She excelled in her studies, graduating in the top five of her class and becoming an Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi member. In 2010, she obtained her board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) certification.
Throughout her career, Lyret has worked with individuals with autism, from toddlers to adults. Her areas of expertise include pre-verbal behavior, verbal behavior, early intervention, problem behavior reduction and replacement, social skills training, independent living skills, staff training, and caregiver coaching. In 2019, she earned her doctoral degree in the philosophy of behavior analysis from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her research focused on using behavioral skills training (BST) to educate novice instructors and establish vocalizations in non-vocal children with autism through stimulus-stimulus pairing.
Presently, Dr. Carrasquillo resides in Oviedo, Florida, where she maintains an active doctoral-level BCBA designation. She is a faculty member in the ABA master’s and doctoral programs at Capella University, where she helps shape the next generation of professionals in the field. She also works as a clinical supervisor at Flamboyan Behavior Services, where she continues to help individuals with autism live fuller, more independent lives.
